Terdapat 2 jenis Kekuatan:

1) Kekuatan Kebaikan - perlu bantuan ALLAH manakala
2) Kekuatan Keburukan - dibantu oleh Syaitan

Berbahagia lah - kalu diisikan dgn kebaikan
Rugi lah - kalau diisi dgn keburukan

FROM...http://www.viewfinderpanoramas.org/highestpass.html

THE HIGHEST MOTORABLE ROAD PASSES

Contrary to general public opinion, misinformed by Guinness World Records, a local indicator and countless websites, the world's highest motorable road pass is NOT the "5682m" or "5602m" Khardung La, NE of Leh in the Indian Himalaya. A Catalan research expedition accurately measured this at 5359m. For further evidence of this, from other travellers who have measured it with GPS, and other reliable sources, see Wikipedia.

The true identity and location of the highest motorable pass depends on how "motorable pass" is defined. Is it defined as a pass over which it is possible for an expert driver to drive a suitably adapted motor vehicle, or a pass which can be driven by an average driver in an average car?

There is surely a higher motorable pass than Khardung La, by any definition, at Suge La, 100km west of Lhasa. See this summitpost page by Janne Corax, who knows this area well, on which it is clearly shown that this pass is on a bus route. The elevation shown on the map on the above page, 5430m, is supported by both GPS and SRTM.

A road from Raka (Raga) to Tsochen (Coqen), through the Trans-Himalayas, rises to 5565m at Semo La, N 30°06'36" E 85°25'54". Janne Corax writes that "the LONG distance bus lhasa-shiquanhe/ali takes this road once a week, at least it did until the southern route (saga-paryang-shiquanhe) was upgraded", and that "minibuses, trucks, landcruisers and sometimes even 'normal cars' travel here". But, compared with Khardung La, this is a very remote area. See this summit photograph supplied by the Catalan cycle tour and their GPS report. See also here Janne's photographs from Semo La. He writes that "001 is from the pass, with a car, showing the road; 002 is from a little side road at the pass, included because it's easy to tell it is Semo pass, for those who have been there; 003 is on the way down on the north side of the pass, a heavily loaded truck, just to show what kind of vehicles travel the road." Satellite images from Google Earth and NASA World Wind clearly show the Semo La road. Processed GPS readings for Semo La can be downloadeded here.

There may be a higher pass at Marsimik La, India, at N 34°05'36" E 78°37'06". This report gives its elevation as "5590m/18634feet", but 5590m is 18340 feet. SRTM gives an elevation of 5582m. The road may be motorable by skilled riders on powerful motorcycles, and by Indian army jeeps, but I doubt if it is motorable in the sense that most drivers and vehicles could consider it motorable.

An alternatve candidate may be Lo La. According to Martin Adserballe, who cycled over it in September 2006, the main pass "is situated at N 29°54'569 E 86°42'427. The pass itself was 5578 meters according to GPS. There were two parallel roads leading up to the roadpass - one constructed with the pass as summit and one going over a small hill before the pass - reaching an altitude of 5593 meters." Martin also claims that it would be possible to drive a car over this pass; it is unlikely that such a claim could be made about Marsimik. Here are some photographs, uploaded with his permission: 1 2 3 4.

Roads shown on Tibetan road maps suggest there may be even higher motorable passes, but it is not clear that the passes shown are motorable. More information about these is needed. Two passes, Bodpo La, 5767m at N 32°19' E 78°59', and Jang Rang La, 5761m at N 32°03' E 78°53', are shown on a Tibet road map. According to a Chinese source, a jeep has been driven up one of these passes, probably Jang Rang La; if you can read Chinese, see here and here. Local sources say that although the roads are small, a "friend of a local guide" said that he had been over them. Whether or not they are motorable through roads is still not clear. Unfortunately access to the area for non-Chinese nationals is very difficult and may be impossible. It has been suggested that there may be an even higher motorable pass over the Nyainqentanghla at Gorun La, 5910m at N 30°17' E 90°15', but this seems unlikely. I thank Martin Adserballe of Denmark and Tang Zhengliang of Nanking, China for the above information.

A unpaved road, reported here (in Italian), rises up Cerro Uturunco, in Bolivia, to 5836 m at S 22°15.484' W 67°10.680'. But according to Dr Steve Pells of the Edinburgh Roslin Institute, who cycled (or pushed his bicycle in some places) up this road in 2005, "the road is blocked to motor vehicles from about 5550 m by a landslide that occurred a few years ago", and although there is a 5,760m "pass" between Uturunco's two summits, it is a cul-de-sac that leads only to a mine. Still, a French team evidently managed to cycle and/or push their bicycles to Uturunco's 6020m summit. On 6 April 2010 German cyclists reached 6085m on Ojos del Salado.

Sulphur mine workings at 6,000m on the north side of Aucanquilcha, in Northern Chile, have been serviced by motor vehicles. The road was constructed all the way to the 6,195 metre summit, which was reached on bicycle by Martin Adserballe (see above) in August 2009. He reported that due to landslides, motorised use is no longer possible and cycles cannot be ridden along some stretches. At 5334m, a nearby village of the same name is the world's highest permanent settlement.

It is claimed here that, in 2007, a Jeep Wrangler was driven off road up to the crater rim of the world's highest volcano, Ojos del Salado, reaching an altitude 6646m, 247m below the volcano's highest point (6,893m). A few weeks later it was claimed that Chileans had driven another specially adapted vehicle even higher up this route, to 6688m, see here and here. Although there is nothing that could be called a road there, I have been told that it is not unusual for local rangers to drive 4x4 vehicles up Ojos del Salado to 5900m.

Saudi Arabia Has the Highest Road Accident Death Toll in the World
Benjamin Joffe-Walt - The Media Line | March 15th, 2010 | 3 Comments | Email this

Time to turn Saudi youth onto bicycling: video of dangerous stunts on the rise in young Saudi males who purposefully “drift” cars.

An average of 17 Saudi Arabian residents die on the country’s roads each day, a report by the Kingdom’s General Directorate of Traffic has revealed. The news comes after the World Health Organization found Saudi Arabia to have the world’s highest number of deaths from road accidents, which now make up the country’s principal cause of death in adult males aged 16 to 36. First reported by the Saudi daily Arab News, the study found that 6,485 people had died and more than 36,000 were injured in over 485,000 traffic accidents during 2008 and 2009.

There was no official reaction to the unfortunate world record, and Saudi analysts pointed to larger underlying problems.

“The driving problems are with young people,” Ali Abdul-Rahman Al-Mazyad, a Saudi columnist in Riyadh told The Media Line. “There are very little outlets for young people to enjoy themselves and kids basically do what they want.”

“There is also not such great education in schools about driving and respecting the road,” he said. “Drug use is also a contributing factor. These are the central problems.”

The report found that almost a third of traffic accidents in the Saudi capital Riyadh were due to drivers jumping red lights, followed by 18 percent of accidents caused by illegal U-turns. The most common dangerous driving activities were speeding, sudden stops and speaking on the phone while driving.

Over the past two decades Saudi Arabia has recorded 4 million traffic accidents, leading to 86,000 deaths and 611,000 injuries, 7 percent of which resulted in permanent disabilities.

A recent study at the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), a Riyadh-based scientific research group, warned that if the current rise in road accident rates is not curbed, Saudi Arabia will have over 4 million traffic accidents a year by 2030.

Silvio Saadi, a Jeddah-based businessman and film producer, argued that both the government and an out-of-control youth culture were to blame.

“You won’t believe what you see,” he told The Media Line. “It’s just crazy.”

“Saudis often try to drift with normal cars and thousands of spectators on the sides of the street,” he said, referring to an informal motor sport in which drivers intentionally over-steer so as to lose traction and drift on the road. “Sometimes the car drifts into the spectators, slamming them into buildings along the sidewalk.”

Saadi said that while the government has made some initiatives, they have fallen short of an aggressive road safety campaign.

“Outside the city, the police often cannot stop them,” he said. “The police are actually scared because there can be thousands of them. A few years ago they built a Jeddah raceway to attract young people to do it on the track instead of on the streets, but people still like to do it the old fashioned Bedouin way.”

“We get approached every year by government departments to produce public service announcements about speeding but most of the time nothing comes of it,” Saadi added. “Who knows what happens, but there is a lot of corruption. They probably take budgets from the government to do public service announcements and then don’t do it.”

Video of crazy road stunt as Saudi youth skate on the road.

Saudi Arabia has long had a taste for expensive cars, and spottings of young Saudis cruising the streets of Jeddah and Riyadh in Maseratis, Ferraris, Porsches and Harley Davidson motorbikes are increasingly commonplace.

One of the Middle East’s largest car markets, automobile sales make up about three percent of Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product.

Following overstated fears that the global recession might seriously weaken the Arab world’s largest economy, Saudi car sales are now expected to boom. The kingdom’s car market, including both commercial automobiles and transport infrastructure, is currently worth about $9 billion. The market is expected to grow by 30 percent in 2010.

Over 675,000 cars are expected to be sold in 2010 to a population of just under 25 million.

Malaysia has the highest Road Deaths, 2009

Britain’s annual road deaths tally is the lowest out of 33 countries surveyed by an international transport watchdog which has declared the last 10 years “a record decade for road safety”.

Latest fatality figures published today by the Paris-based International Transport Forum show dramatic falls in road deaths since the turn of the century in 30 of the countries included.

In terms of road deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, Britain’s figure last year stood at 3.8 – compared with 23.8 in Malaysia at the other end of the scale.

Safety first: Britain’s roads have fewer deaths than any other in the world according the new survey

The steepest declines in fatalities were recorded in Spain, Portugal and France in the last 10 years, while last year saw America’s lowest death toll on the roads for 60 years, at 11.1 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.

Measured as road fatalities per billion kilometres driven, the risk of dying in a road accident is smallest in Sweden (5.1), followed by the UK (5.2) and Switzerland (5.6).

It is highest in Korea (20.1 deaths per billion kilometres), the Czech Republic (19.4) and Malaysia (17.7.).

Portugal’s traffic-related deaths toll has fallen by 55pc since the start of the century, Spain’s by 53pc and that of France by 47pc.

The UK’s figure fell by 35pc and America’s by 19pc. The three countries with a worsening road accident record are Argentina, Cambodia and Malaysia.

International Transport Forum Secretary General Jack Short hailed the figures as “a record decade for road safety”, adding: “Reducing fatalities around the world will be accelerated by rapid and effective transfer of knowledge, good practice and information from the best performing countries.”

Fred Wegman, chairman of the OECD’s International Road Traffic and Accident Database which compiled the figures, commented: “In comparison to preceding decades, we have made a significant leap in the reduction of deadly road incidents during the first decade of the 21st century.”

But he warned: “Trends are much more worrying in many developing countries.”

There were substantial cuts in motorcycle fatalities in the last decade too, notably by 45pc in Portugal and 39pc in Korea.

But there were also huge rises – by 170pc in Finland and 100pc in Slovenia.

“These increases (in motorcycle deaths) are only partly explained by the rise in the number of motorcycles,” said Veronique Feypell-de La Beaumelle, road safety expert at the International Transport Forum.

“In the UK, for instance, motorcycle accidents were down 23pc, despite a 45pc increase in the number of motorcycles on the road.”

The Forum has set up a Motorcycle Safety Working Group to study the problem.

The United Nations has declared the next 10 years to be the “Decade of Action for Road Safety”, with a target of stabilising and then reducing global road deaths by 2020.

Just look at the list below if you are lazy to read.

Road deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in 2009:

Malaysia – 23.8

Argentina – 18.4

Greece – 13.8

Cambodia – 12.6

Korea – 12.0

Poland – 12.0

US – 11.1

Lithuania – 11.0

New Zealand – 8.9

Belgium – 8.9

Czech Rep – 8.6

Slovenia – 8.4

Hungary – 8.2

Portugal – 7.9

Italy – 7.9

Austria – 7.6

Luxembourg – 7.2

Australia – 6.9

France – 6.9

Canada – 6.3

Spain – 5.9

Denmark – 5.5

Ireland – 5.4

Iceland – 5.3

Finland – 5.3

Germany – 5.1

Japan – 4.5

Switzerland – 4.5

Norway – 4.4

Israel – 4.2

Sweden – 3.9

Netherlands – 3.9

UK – 3.8

Malaysia Boleh. We are the best in … what? Road deaths.. OMG.. 23.8 death per 100,000 inhabitants.

So, the next time you drive it will be best for you to keep that number in mind. From my understanding that out of 100,000 people, 23.8 people actually died from road accidents. Unfortunately no additional information is provided, we don’t know those accidents is from driving a car or riding a bike but I am guessing that Rempit is one of the major factor.

“We cannot hide the facts. It is everyone’s responsibility to react to it instead of just relying on government agencies to do something about it,” said Dr Ahmad Farhan yesterday.

He added that one of the major contributors to road deaths was motorcycle accidents.

Yes. We cannot hide from the fact that our road death bad and I really appreciate Dr Ahmad Farhan for not deflecting or saying that we are not the worst in comparing with some other countries.

We also cannot hide from the fact that most Malaysian has to travel around on our own transport since the public transport system network is so wide and reliable too.

Meanwhile, Road Safety Department director-general Datuk Suret Singh has disputed the results of the report.

“It needs to take into account other Asean countries as well. Compared to the World Health Organisation’s list of countries by traffic-related deaths, Malaysia is certainly not the worst,” he said.

He declined to comment further until detailed studies on the report were done by the department.

Datuk Suret Singh simply “tai-chi” his way out by stating Malaysia is certainly not the worst. Come on! Just learn from Dr Ahmad Farhan. Admit that our road deaths is a problem and improve the situation.
