I was in Phnom pen in 2002 (Have to check date on old passport) and after a day of traumatic tourism Chol eck and toel sleng I was resting in my hotel room when I heard gunfire, went for a walk to see what was going on, turns out it was a riot about a Thai soap opera star’s comment that Thailand owns Ankor Wat. The Thai embassy and three hotels and many other Thai businesses were burnt to the ground.
The main problem to block Thais and Kmher settling this is the presence of Hun Sen ex Kmher rouge cadre and dictator. The other is that Thais tend to look down (duu tuuk)and ignore their own history. Thailand should look at backing off a little and opening their hearts to their ancestor the Kmher empireAs powerful as the siam army is perceived to be, it should not take them more than one attempt to take 4.6 Km from Khmer. There is nothing stopping siam army to take that 4.6 km beside the khmaer army. The world community does not care about Cambodia at least not that much. Did you hear that the captured siam solder was high on drug? The captured siam solder was tested and positive for illegal drug.Poor Abhisit. The Red Shirts hate him, the Orange Shirts hate him. Now the Yellow Shirts hate him. He has nowhere to turn. Only the Thai military is keeping him in power but for how long? Plus, if the army has to go fight a war at the Cambodian border, who will protect Abhisit in Bangkok?
