Unfortunately, Joe is correct,
History is full of examples, you own what can be militarily held. The real travesty is that the ability of Israel to continue its tyranny over the local Arab population is through the generosity of the US tax payer. If we want change, we need to first address our own responsibility for propping up the state of Israel. Peace can be had if we become a "honesty broker", something we definitely have not been to this point.
