Has anyone besides me noticed that ALL of these articles, and the government or industry figures they are based on, are all about the OPINION and FEELINGS of consumers. CONFIDENCE is the buzzword here. I'm hoping that people other than me recognize the government happy talk for what it is, propaganda. All of this "confidence" is illusion. The people who are out of work are being marginalized as best the media can, for the benefit of making people feel better. The idea is the government wants to to spend, spend, spend.
But spending YOUR money isn't going to be enough to cover the losses by those who are unemployed. All it does is threatens YOUR families security. Those jobs are gone. Factories, in many cases, are being dismantled. Equipment is still being sold off at 10 cents or less on the dollar. Most of the much heralded big construction jobs (highways, airports) are products of PUBLIC SECTOR financing (i.e. tax revenues) which is about to go belly up as municipalities are beginning to default on their bonds. The Municipal Bond market is already collapsing as 100 cities and States like Illinois are completely broke and about to default.
Government is not the answer, it's the problem. We are no longer allowed to pull together and kick them aside to do what has to be done as Americans.
