I don't care! I had my Hyundai Santa Fe SUV converted in South America (won't tell you which country) to a plug in electric. I get 200 miles to the charge with the AC off, 105 with the AC at full blast. I even got roof top solar panels for charging while parked outside. My drive to/from work is 15 miles each day.
With no gasoline and no maintenance required....well, you do the math.
I am free!!!!First off the price of gas has nothing to do with supply or demand. As unfree market as it sounds we should stop the speculators trade on oil futures. The original idea was to level out prices & has evolved to being a tool for a select few to go beyond wealth and be in control of the prices. 2nd we should set a ten year time line to use only domestic oil. We have the reserves, the job creation would be staggering, and we would be in control of our energy cost. The combination of the three could really boost the economy. That would also buy us time to develop alternative sources without some made up tax. There would be a ramp up time, and we have billions of gallons in reserve. But how much cheaper would OPEC oil get if we quit buying it. And how much less trouble would there be in the world if we just ignored the middle east and let them fight each other to the death. A decade later we would have much more peace, complete control of our oil future, and a choice of cheap forigien oil if we wanted it with the understanding we could drop it at anytime. Nothing like not needing it to keep the price down. It is a radical sounding idea, but to continue on the current path is suicide. We need a radical approach. We have the reserves here in this country and maybe the fear of running out will promote new ideas. And once we starve the middle east enough we can always buy from them cheaply anyway.
