Adam -Reporter -"Why are you and the Vice President insisting on appearing together before the 9/11 Commission?" George Bush-" Because the 9/11 Commission wants us to ask us questions, and that's why we're meeting, and I look forward to meeting with them and answering their questions." ADAM-"And why are you appearing together rather than separately, which was their request?" -"Because it's a good chance that both of us, to answer questions the 9/11 Commission is looking forward to asking us and am looking forward to answering them. Let's see…"

"Do you think they should be able to stand up and speak their own words? They should go under oath. Yeah, in public!"

[When Bush and Cheney met with the 9/11 Commission, they did so only on their own terms:

They appeared together They were not under oath No press or family members were allowed to attend. No recording of any kind was allowed No transcript was allowed]
