The event started in the An-Nafud desert in the north-central region of the Kingdom and the Mitsubishi Lancer crew started its journey with a 6m 34s advantage over Abdullah Bakhashab and Joseph Matar. The crew posed a major challenge before the Toyota FJ Cruiser Proto crew over desert route and finally recorded a success with a margin of 32m 54.3s.
Al-Rajhi, said, "The car was fantastic, Matthieu did a great job on the route and I am so happy to have made a winning start to my program in the Baja Cup. Winning at home in Saudi Arabia, makes it extra special for me."
The Bakhashab Isuzu Team D-Max, with the help of Sami and Abdullah Al-Shammeri, claimed victory in the T2 showroom class. Mtair and Motaib Al-Shammeri performed very well in their Toyota Land Cruiser and expected to claim victory in the forthcoming rounds.
