Just for your information, Somalia has not had a proper working government since about 1948, there is no industrial activity at all, the only source of income was fishing off their coastline, the people of Somalia have been fed by UN since about 1948, and the more food they get, the more they breed which worsens the hunger problem, the villagers shield and support the pirates, because in return the pirates help them, unfortunately Somalia is on one of the main trade routes leading to the Suez canal,so ships need to pass by their coast, which is why they have taken the opportunity to commit piracy. Until some organisation does what has been suggested by putting armed personnel on board and keeping them there until past the danger area, things will not improve. Another problem is that the pirates are starting to operate much further out to sea than before, which means that it becomes even MORE difficult to take action against them.
Another thing is that not all Somalis are Muslim, so its no good laying all the blame on them without solid proof.
Unfortunately our governments are so bloody useless, the only time decisive action will be taken against the pirates is when they commit "mass murder" of hostages taken from the ships they have captured, unfortunately by then it will be too late.
