Why all of the sudden Israel that has sabotaged every peace effort before (to grab more land) wants peace? The answer is because Israel is facing a difficult reality and uncertain future. The events that are unfolding the Middle East have set in motions forces that will effectively change the Middle East political posture toward the United States. In future United States, instead of obedient dictators who protected US and Israeli interests, must deal with political forces that are more independent, symptomatic to Palestinian cause and influenced by Islam. To protect its strategic interest in the Middle East, in future US foreign policy must accommodate demands of other middle eastern countries and this means departure from blind support of Israel. Israel knows that by itself it has no strategic value for the United States and sooner than later the United Will dump them for a better relation with democratic countries in the Middle Ears. So far the biggest winner has been the Islamic Republic of Iran that watching with joy as its enemies disappear. With a prudent and better calculated foreign policy, once again without doing anything, Iran rips the benefits of political changes in the region as testimony to damage that our blind support of Israel has caused us. If only our hands we not tied behind our back by AIPAC.
