"I do deserve it," the 49-year-old says. Can you believe what a nation of beggars we've become? The last time I was laid off, I worked two crummy low paying part time jobs in order to pay the bills. Believe me, there are jobs out there but most people prefer the free handouts so they can sit on their butts. The fact is those "free" handouts are being paid for with huge deficits that will eventually bankrupt us. There is no way in hell that we can ever pay back the deficits! So-called entitlements will eventually end and people won't have a clue how to care for themselves. Most of you youngsters don't remember a time when American made products were highly desirable throughout the world. They brought top dollar in every other country and sometimes sold for four or five times their retail value overseas. Imported stuff was considered "junk" and frowned upon...seen as a cheap imitation of the "real" product. Somewhere along the line, we started to accept these cheap, imported products as our normal fare and phased out the Made in America label...we started comparing apples to rabbit berries and let the lower price over-rule what our brain knew was right.

Look what that got us...super rich CEOs and Board Members and idle factories throughout the country. Now all of the "trickle down" theories from the Ronnie Reagan years are starting to trickle up. For every increase in the number of jobless in this country, the less secure YOU are in YOUR position, whether you're a factory rat or a retail clerk or a carpenter or a stock broker.

I wish that we could slam the doors and put the American manufacturing machine back to work! Tax all imported goods and the manufacturers that use them. We in the U.S. have the technology, we have the means and we have the need to be self-sufficient. It's long past time to stand on our own two feet again.

So sure! Go ahead and save a few bucks by putting that Chinese junk in your shopping cart instead of a more expensive "Made in America" product. You'll save a few bucks in the check out aisle, but it will eventually cost you your job so that you can't buy anything. Brilliant. You're creating the demand for that imported garbage and, in the process, killing the need for the American workers...those workers are the few who actually produce something...a tangable product with shape, form and value. Without them, and the money that they spend, ALL businesses are in trouble.

So now what do you do? Import customers from the Mid-East? From South America? From Asia?

Good luck with that.
