Whats happened to PayPal is very instructive concerning the larger
question of war. PayPal has been put in the position of civilians in a
war of occupation. Take the US occupation of Afghanistan.
The US tries to press civilians into service to its cause, making them
into targets of the Taliban. Conversely if civilians capitulate to pressure
from the Taliban, they then find themselves targets of the US military.
