Most of you making comments know very little if not nothing about Africa. I'm pretty sure this is the first time many of you of hearing of a country called Ivory Coast.
The leaders of the other West African countries are one of the most corrupt and evil in the world. There are many serious Human rights violations going on in other African countries mostly commited by dictatorial regimes. Many of them came to power through heavily frauded elections.(Blaise Compaore of neigbouring Burkina Faso has been in office for 23 years now) But why Laurent Gbagbo?
During the Ivorien civil war of 2004 Gbagbo launched some air strikes which killed 9 French soldiers. Gbagbo maintains that it was an accident. After that the French millitary retaliated by destroying two Ivorien millitary aircrafts and three helicopters. (France could easily wipe Ivory Coast off the map) In the aftermath armed mobs of loyal supportes of Gbagbo took to the streets in protest against France. A French school and army base was even attacked. To quell the riots French soldiers opened fire on rioters kiling atleast 20 people.
