The rebels are losing ground and now the western countries want to go through diplomatic path to settle the issue. Go fly kite !!! . Cameron, Sarkosky and Obama have destroyed the fabric of Libyan society and now these stupid leaders who are @#$% trying find way to exit from the crisis. Stupid fool !!!The military Mission in Libya is defined in UN Resolutions 1970 & 1973 which authorized the establishment of a No-Fly Zone to protect innocent civilians. It does not authorize the use of Military Force to remove Gaddafi from power.

The UN Resolutions that the U.S. and NATO are enforcing calls for the protection of innocent civilians… Fair enough, but the situation described in Brega is straight forward mutual combat by two opposing Armies; The defending Libyan Military IN the city and the attacking Rebels outside of the city. The Libyan Army is firing it’s weapons out of the city at Rebels while the Rebels are firing into the city. The only viable threat to innocent civilians is from the untrained Rebels fire.
-
The videos make it clear that the untrained, undisciplined Rebels are pointing their rocket launchers, motars and anti-aircraft guns, not aiming them, at the Libyan Army in the city. Their fire is ineffective and often lands who knows where. The Libyan fire appears to be both disciplined and effective which indicates aimed fire from a disciplined, trained Army…no surprise here.
-
The untrained Rebels firing haphazardly into the city creates a significant risk to the innocent civilians yet the Rebels are not targeted for attack by U.S. and NATO while the Libyan Army is targeted. The question is Why … if the U.S. and NATO mission is to protect innocent civilians and not the overthrow of the Libyan government as stated by Obama and Clinton?

Who are the Rebels that we are supporting? WHAT is their Political Ideology? Will they be better or worse for Libya or more importantly for the USA? 25% of Al-Qaida fighters killed or captured in Iraq came from eastern Libyan Tribes. One of the leading rebel groups is the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG). The LIFG was in Afghanistan and LIFG members fought US soldiers in Iraq. LIFG trained many of Bin Landin's Al-Qaida members and LIFG fought with Al-Qaida against the US in Afghanistan after 911. Senior Al Qaeda members Abu Yahya al-Libi and Abu Laith al-Libi were LIFG members. Beg’s the question Should we be supporting the Rebels?

Why won’t the President clearly state what the real mission, goals and end strategy of his War in Libya is? If the mission is truly humanitarian then direct the U.S. and NATO forces to attack ANY armed force that is threatening the lives of innocent civilians, Libyan Army or Rebels a like, simple and straight forward. If the mission is to overthrow the Libyan government say so and attack only the Libyan military when and where ever possible …also simple and straight forward. Do not lie to the American Public and our Military by trying to do one mission while claiming to be doing the other. Display the moral courage expected of an American President and state your true mission, goals and end strategy for your War in Libya!. What you say does not match what you are doing in Libya.

For the record; I served for 34 years (‘69-’03) and retired with 100% disability due to wounds. I am the son of a Combat Veteran and the proud father of two still serving multiple tour Combat Veterans. I have strong opinions about how our country goes to War formed from both experience and formal education. What we are doing in Libya has all the red flags of a badly conceived, improperly planned and poorly executed War. The fault does not lie with the Military tasked with prosecuting the War, it rest’s squarely on the shoulders of the President and our political Leadership that have failed to provide a clearly defined mission statement, goals and end strategy for their War in Libya.
