All Talk, Little Action on Palestinian Peace

I've really reached the point where I dread reading the stories about this topic in the AmeriKan newspaper.

"Abbas asks US to mediate dispute over West Bank settlements; Threatens to quit peace talks unless freeze continues" by Mohammed Daraghmeh, Associated Press | September 8, 2010

RAMALLAH, West Bank — Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said he has asked the United States to settle a dispute with Israel over settlement expansion that is threatening to derail Mideast peace talks....

Palestinians still fear the Israeli leader plans to use the talks to buy time and establish more facts on the ground.

Well-justified fears.

In Madrid yesterday, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad said it was ironic that Israel halted settlement construction when there were no talks, but might resume the building during negotiations.

Yeah, they seem to screw things up every time.

“The international community needs to state firmly that Israel must put an end to settlements and to end the occupation,’’ he said.

Except the ic works for 'em.

Abbas and Netanyahu will meet twice next week, first in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh and then in Jerusalem. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will attend both meetings.

The Israelis are negotiating with Abbas, who has limited governing power in the West Bank under Israel’s overall security control.

I'm sorry, readers; I am no longer interested in the excuses of liars.

Please remember the first thing out of Israel is always a lie.

"Clinton says timing favors Mideast peace; Will press leaders to keep talking despite obstacles" by Robert Burns, Associated Press | September 14, 2010

SHANNON, Ireland — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said yesterday that the “time is ripe’’ for Mideast peace, and she believes Israeli and Palestinian negotiators could find a way around a dispute over West Bank settlement building....

The most immediate obstacle for negotiators is a Palestinian demand....

That's when I stopped reading the one-sided PoS.

"No progress seen on Israeli settlements in talks" by Robert Burns, AP National Security Writer | September 14, 2010

Is it not interesting that it is Israel's security with which the AmeriKan paper is concerned?

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt --Under pressure to compromise, Israeli and Palestinian leaders on Tuesday dug into the central issues blocking a peace deal but the latest talks produced no visible progress on the divisive issue of Jewish settlements.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas held an extra, unscheduled session with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, but there was no word on signs of a breakthrough. After the leaders' first meeting at this Red Sea resort, U.S. peace envoy George Mitchell offered reporters a mildly positive assessment....

The leaders move on to the holy city of Jerusalem for more discussions Wednesday in another symbolic gesture aimed at underscoring the importance of the negotiations....

Yeah, I knew I smelled something familiar.

Clinton did not comment, but told reporters on the flight to Egypt from Washington on Monday that "the time is ripe" for an agreement based on the notion of a sovereign Palestinian state and a secure Israel....

Mitchell plans to travel to Syria and Lebanon later in the week to consult on the peace process. The Obama administration's goal is a comprehensive Mideast settlement that includes Israeli peace deals with Lebanon and Syria in addition to the Palestinians....

Sort of like Hitler's diplomatic offensive, 'eh?

And the MSM sure is playing down such a huge effort; methinks it's a war deception so they relax their guard.

The ultimate aim is a deal that creates a sovereign Palestinian state beside a secure Israel....

And you know which comes first, dear readers.
