One of my uncles visited Saudi Arabia in the late 1970s, and told my folks later that it was the only country where taxis were either new Cadillacs, Lincolns, BMWs or big Mercedes cars!

When the Arab Oil Embargo was incurred in 1974, I honestly thought the U.S. had wakened to the danger of being so friendly to all the Arab countries. At that time, the Alaskan Pipeline was started to bring oil ONLY to Americans, yet now we SELL the majority of that oil to Japan, and still kiss up to the Saudis!This is disgusting. But, it does happen here it's just hidden under a veneer of respectability and the lie of "hard work." And we have supported the Saudi's for decades while they do this, even giving them mass quantities of weapons. Can you blame their people for being mad at us?so what! they spend their own money, while we, Americans spend money we don't have or spend freshly minted money that is still wet! Shame on America!$2 Billion per year for payola is far less than the amount that comes out of our annual $700 Billion Defense Dept budget (not even counting Homeland Security, Spy Agencies, State Department, etc). Just for the Iraq War $8 Billion went completely missing one 2 year period from one program.
