If this was the motivation - to avenge the attacks of Qaddafi-sponsored terrorists back in the 1980s - then the speeches by the Pre$idnt have really not fleshed out this argument at all. If anything they have refuted this motivation by saying that removing Qaddafi by force is not the goal. The Pre$idnt has focused on humanitarian protection of civilians in his speeches, while at the same time, the facts on the ground (e.g. tanks and military formations of Qaddafi's attacked by NATO air forces) suggest that the US is part of a French-led "coalition" that is very-clearly providing air support for the rebel side in a Libyan Civil War.
The USA should NOT be getting involved in Libya - a civil war where we do not know much about the "rebels" that the French are backing, except we do know that there are Al Qaeda fighters (some returning home to Libya after fighting in Afghanistan/Pakistan/Iraq etc.) fighting with the rebels. Their fellow rebels have even praised the Al Qaeda fighters as "good M0slims".
Congress never voted to get into this Libyan Civil War. 06ama went it alone in attacking Libya - even though the Constitution does not empower him to do so when there is no imminent threat to the US, as 06ama himself stated in 2007 to the Boston Globe. Congress should vote to De-Fund the Libyan disaster immediately.
