The West" and America in particular would best avoid the revenge game, or at least avoid using the revenge argument. Do we want Vietnam to take revenge for the napalming and deforestation and cancer they have suffered from? All of Africa including Libya has plenty of reasons to take revenge on the historically imperialist nations of Western Europe. Though it seems I should drop the word historically from that statement. The crimes the United States has committed and funded and supported in Latin America are too numerous to list here. The hundreds of thousands of civilians slaughtered in Iraq Afghanistan Pakistan. The death and destruction wrecked upon Yugoslavia, this probably explains why the European and mostly Christian nation of Serbia is also a strong supporter of Libya, they know what its like to be the targets of "humanitarian bombing". Perhaps that has something to do with a lot of Latin American countries supporting Libya. And then of course there is Israel their bloodthirstiness is legendary and everyone knows it was and still is a US and British creation. Terrorism is a real threat, no I don't think we should capitulate to terrorists but I wish our political leaders would stop creating hatred of our country we may all end up having to pay for. What is the difference between a terrorist and a pilot sitting in a cushion seated canopy of a plane with tens of thousands of pounds of explosives? This is not about Gaddafi, he may be a tyrant but its not Gaddafi who has suffered so far it has been untold numbers of civilians, and of course many soldiers as well. Sure according to the Geneva Convention soldiers are legitimate targets but when you drop bombs on soldiers from way up in the sky who have absolutely no way to fight back or defend themselves don't they in a way become like civilians, they are people too with families and loved ones. These times are not unlike when European armies shot down brave but hopeless African warriors armed only with spears with rifles cannons and machine guns. Since the day Obama made an appeal for war in his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech he has played the ironic role of calling for America and Europe to once again "bear the white mans burden" The Nazis were big propenets of a doctrine of disproportionate revenge. If one German officer gets shot by a resistance fighter then they would slaughter a hundred civilians.
