If one understands why NATO was set up in the first place ie. as a deterrent against Russian influence in Europe.; why would Russia want to have any ties with NATO anyway. America and NATO have demonstrated repeatedly that they have no credibility and nothing is more revealing and apparent than from their incessant attacks on Libya; a sovereign state that has been under Gadaffi's rule for 40+ years and recognised by all countries except those that want to find trouble with it.
ReplyIt amazes me how we seem to learn nothing from the past.
Arming people who hate us so they can topple whatever brutal regime is currently opposing them only leads to infinite problems down the road. Afghanistan should be an excellent example of this.
If the U.S. had known what would become of Afghanistan i'm doubting they would have supported the various tribes in their war against the Soviet Union, especially since they were responsible for training the the very people who instigated 9-11. You can also make the same case against the Iraq conflict since their current situation seems to constantly be teetering on anarchy.
I see Britain and France going down the exact same road despite watching the U.S. make this mistake over and over. All the oil on earth isn't worth the turmoil they are brewing up in the future, especially with today's technology and the fact that we have proven viable fuel alternatives if we would simply invest in the infrastructures necessary to utilize them.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but it does make one wonder why we let corporations dictate the insane practice of keeping us on an oil standard that is severely outdated and has numerous global political problems that will forever be attached to it.
