US could have been genuine and helped instead of bombing and starting the drug trade. The Afghans never had animosity with the Americans...but they are starting to sense occupation.Uh, because they wouldn't turn bin Ladin over to us after 9/11, so we invaded and won the war, but through our own stupidity lost the peace and now like a bad penny, the Taliban is back, bigger and badder than ever. We were focused on Iraq, so that let them back into the game.
So basically because we are stupid and arrogant, if you want the truth.That's kind of what they said about the Vietcong too, but the smartest thing in the end was to just leave. That's what we should do.How long did the Brits suffer trying to control this land? Did they ever? Will we ever be able to turn it over to "good guys"? Are there any "good guys" there? Why didn't we just let the Russkies keep it as long as they wanted -- they were hemorrhaging money as well as flesh and blood.
