It's much worse here in the US.Dubai owe 100 billion dollars while US government owe 14 TRILLION in debt .The problem is no one knows how much they really owe as the government officials in Dubai are not quick to reveal their actual debt. The people there are in such denial of their economic situation thtat they are compulsive liars but they actually believe what they say. The reality is that while our debt is at 14 Trillion, it is estimated to be only 8-12% of our GDP. For Dubai, $100 Billion is about 100% of their GDP, therefore with a 1 to 1 ratio, Dubai is the most highly leverage city in the world in terms of Debt to GDP. They have the lighest leverage out of any city or country in the world. Even if their debt is small, it is the leverage ratio which makes it a bigger deal.
