Replies (3) governments of the people..by the people..for the peopleAfter spending a couple years in Afghanistan, having many close calls with my life from incoming rockets/mortars on the bases, I must admit that I wish we could pull out and that it would be that simple. The scary thing is if we leave that country, and not be there keeping the Taliban busy fighting us over there, I fear the war will end up on US soil and/or in other westnern countries. The majority of the Afghan people are uneducated and can be manipulated very easilly. The Afghan people tend to be very loyal to their families and if the Taliban threaten to kill their family, the males will join just to save their families lives. Thats why the Taliban is always growing in man power. If we leave entirely, they will have enough strength to bring it here. They may be uneducated, but they aren't dummies. Powers in Afghanistan have never lost a war and with technology these days, the current power (Taliban) has the capabilities to doing some major damage. They don't want to kill eachother, they want to kill us. Yes, it sucks to have our troops over there, and thankfully most of them come home, but they and the contractors are doing good over there. They are keeping it from being in our door step.
