David Blair, Diplomatic Editor "In his four decades as Libya's 'Brother Leader', Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has gone from being the epitome of revolutionary chic to an eccentric statesman with entirely benign relations with the West."
Gaddafi is wanting to maintian his position of being friendly with the West. He is, from its beginning the most outspoken opponent of Al Queda of any Arab leader and has offered his help in controlling terror. C. Rice visited Lybia and was favorable to the changes made there. He wants to expand and grow with the times of today. So why, after he paid 2.7 dollars to the vicitims and was removed from terrorist states list by Bush and Europe, a visit by P.M. Tony Blair, does the U.S. want to abandon him now? the U.S. and world have not shown their concern for their ally. He worked long and hard to get the negociatons made and paid. Do President Obama and others think they can get a better deal from the masses he was working to get help for.Chad inflicted a stinging defeat on Gaddafi's army in 1987 using equipment and tactics similar to what the insurgents are bringing to the table. And they surely are familiar with this. Look up "Toyota War" in Wikipedia if you don't believe me. I wish the insurgents well.
