France and Britain are recreating the Suez crisis with Egypt from 1956 when they, with Israel, tried to take over the Suez canal under some pretext of International order. They only did this cause Nasser nationalized the canal.

I think Ghadafi out maneuvered them behind the scenes and that is why he is being allowed by the Intl community to retake Ras Lanouf. 40 years dealing with oil companies gets you good contacts..Let's see. We've been in Iraq and Afganistan going on 10 years now in support of "freedom and democracy" but we have continuously and historically supported non democratic governments in the region like Egypt, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Jordan etc. Truth is we don't have a clue what we're doing or what we should do.Really? We support Libya? I'm not sure Ron Regan knew that when he sent a squadron of bombers to visit gadaffi about 25 years ago....G.W. MADE gadaffie give up his nuke program. After gadaffi watched G.W. kick the taliban government out of Afghanistan and after watching G.W. topple Sadam, Sadam's two sons shot and Sadam eventually strung up....gadaffi was only too happy to give up his Nuke program! So, not exactly supporting Libya.....we did start to work with them after they gave up their nuke program....G.W. 'gave them a cookie'....I would be happy if we could just give North Korea a 'cookie' in exchange for them giving up Nukes also.
