Our Governors, legislators
and Congress are basically American cut from the same cloth as Mubarak,
Gaddafi and the other dictators presently under fire in Morocco, Yemen,
Bahrain, Tunisia and Venezuela.
All those American governing people mentioned do and have done
exactly what the dictators have done. They have taken for themselves
benefits, perks and retirement plans that stagger the imagination. This
is not a citizen speculating. These are facts from one in the position to
know. “We the people”, factory workers, public employ, white collar -
the majority of Americans, are invisible to our American dictators.
Now, for whatever their reason, many state governors are putting up a
smokescreen by saying that they want to eliminate the right of public
employees to bargain in order to balance their state budgets. Our
new Ohio governor thought nothing of not moving his family into
the governors residence and spending millions to put security in his
own home and neighborhood. Really! Balance the budget?
Look into the history of the many countries currently in turmoil and
you will find that the loss of rights about which they finally are demon-
strating did not occur in one moment in time, but over time. So, if you
are presently not in the public employ but in a union or other situation
that now has the right to bargain, trust me when I say that your turn is
coming if states succeed in taking away the right to bargain from public
employees.
So, while we still have some of the rights of a democracy, do
your part to assure that they will continue. Go to:
http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml
There you can find the E-mail and other contact information
for your elected officials to include President Obama. Send them
a well thought out, well written, forceful but respectful E-mail
to let them know that no one in our democratic America should
lose any of the rights we have and have had. Hint: Write the
item before you go on-line so that it can simply be pasted into
each web site as you go through everyone to whom you send it.
Trust me when I say that you will live to regret inaction.
