Remember Vietnam? The reason why information flowed in that war without U.S. government censorship was due to reporters given free reign to travel anywhere in the country taking video, photos, the massacres etc and why soldiers we spit on in airports and also, we saw the dead innocent women & children. The reason why the GOP does not believe the U.S. are murderers in Iraq and Afghanistan is because we haven't seen the carnage, the 6 O'clock news never shows war carnage, never, not like the news in the 60's and 70's during Vietnam. Now we have something called "Embedded" reporters. One may as well call them, "extremely controlled and limited reporters." because our government learned a valuable lesson, no carnage on the evening news! This is why the GOP thinks the U.S. is flawless and still carry on a sense of unspolied patriotism when in reality, we are a nation of murderers. I can't say I agree with the german gunman yesterday but acts like that are not always carried out by wackos. I was once an Airman myself.Reagan went after Gadhafi in the 80's.

Both because the French didn't let us land in their country, and our planes fell into the sea.
