Since this is Japan, I assume they have an American Style Reactor. The reactors that we build use water as the moderator in the reaction. Water slows the neutrons down so that the reaction can continue. If the reactor generates to much heat, the water will evaperate and the pressure will rise in the reactor, causing a crack and allowing the vapor and a small amount of radiation to escape. The Three Mile Island incident is an example of this. However, once that happens, the reaction stops, as the neutrons are moving to quickly to keep the reaction going. Meltdown, like Chernobyl, happens when graphite is used as the moderator. The reactor gets too hot and starts melting the graphite control rods. Once the rods "melt down", the reaction can not be stopped. You then end up with an uncontrolled reactor that wont stop.1956.-- Hungary asked for help when the Russians marched in to Budapest with tanks destroying the city........ NO ONE came. why should it be any different now? OIL?Its just like ants surrounding wherever there is sweets flavour....this is what happening when there is a vast oil reserve...everybody eager to get their hands on it...on the pretext of helping another party...
Of all the conflicts in the world, the Libyan 'civil war' is getting the fastest response...
