For once I can comment with fact. I was in Camp Ashraf in 2006. It was the cleanest place in Iraq and the safest. We open our up armored windows and enjoy the drive. They Iranians there are not a threat to us, but to Iran. The @#$% Iraqis hate them, because they were allied with Saddam and used to kill Shites and Sunnis who pissed of Saddam.
It is a sore spot, we agreed to protect them and should not back out. We disarmed them and they did not fire a shot at US Troops and they had a full Mechize Infantry/ Armor Brigade. They were armed for a fight and complied with our request to disarm. Now our allies are killing them. Sad, mostly because I was an advisor with the Iraqi Army. Not what I trained the for.
Lets just hope we can find someplace to take these people they deserve better, they are the only group in Iraq that did not kill American troops! The Shites and Sunni can not make that claim!Iraq is much worse off than when we got there, bad as it was. Besides killing Hussein, we destroyed the infastructure of the country and lied cheated and stole our way through the rubble that we left behind, pretending to free the country and promising to rebuild it.
