People have been killed in Laos for decades, and the outside world only talks about it without any actions. Therefore, just be quiet because talking without actions means nothing to the Laotian government. If I were the Laotian officials, I would fear nobody either while knowing that they talk loud but dare to do nothing. Regime change has been overdue there for decades, but the world is more interested in countries that have oil. The war in Libya is so meaningless, but the world jumps without even bother to study the real problems. So, just leave Asia to China. If China does and says nothing, let it be so.Dude, before the Koran women had no rights at all. Of course nowadays it looks extreme, but just remember that a little over 100 years ago women in the USA couldn't own property or inherit much of anything. When Mohammed came along he gave women inheritance rights, the right to divorce, etc. People get hung up about the fact that women under those rules inherited a smaller percentage than men, but back then it was a given that women were married and their husbands also got shares from the inheritance so they figured that the husband would share with his wife and so they both would do well. Look in the Bible and you have APPALLING laws concerning capital punishment of rape victims...great job. NOT in Islam, although they do consider Moses as a prophet. And as you said, TRADITION is to blame here, those practices that Mohammed tried to abolish crept back in once he died. I'm not muslim, I'm an agnostic german/irish mix, but the history of Islam is quite fascinating and beautiful. We are living in a propaganda machine. And you know what? Muslims have gotten WAY more radical nowadays than they used to be. In the 60's 70's in Iran for instance almost no one wore a veil, same in Egypt and everywhere else. But the West put extreme muslims in charge of ruling Saudi arabia, they are the Wahabi sect which accounts for less than 2% of muslims. They're the ones that don't let women drive, etc. And over the years they've influenced a lot of people/politicians. I'm talking too much. but look at muslims in Turkmenistan, very isolated culture. They drink a heck of a lot of vodka, hahaha. Most muslims are not strict at all in their faith, you copuld call them lapsed catholics of the east, hahaha
