	Why Gold? Any commodity would work: hogs, lumber, oil, etc. But you need to store, transfer, and grade the commodity. Think of 50,000,000 chickens in Fort Knox, or shipping 200,000 hogs to China for a currency settlement. Gold has always been the only legitimate money for thousands of years.
