Israeli torture of Arab detainees

We will make of these detainees parasites in their societies, and we will not release them untill they become like mummies, empty and full of holes from inside like Swiss cheese – Moshe Dayan quoted by Israel daily ‘Maareef’ in 1979.
Although the US and Zionist Israel are signatory to the 1984 UN Convention against Torture and other international laws banning such practice – But the US and Israel are the only two members of the world body (UN), which legally sanction torture.
“No physical or mental torture, nor any other form of coercion, may be inflicted on prisoners of war, for any reason whatsoever,” – Third Geneva Convention, Article 17
“Protected persons (civilians) shall all times be humanly treated, and shall be protected especially against all acts of violence or threats thereof,” – Fourth Geneva Convention Article 27
“No physical or moral coercion shall be excercised against protected persons (civilians),” – Fourth Geneva Convention Article 31
“No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment,” – International Convenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966), Article 7
United Nations’ Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment or Punishment (1984) – prohibits allsuch treatments against anyone for any purpose without exception.
In addition to the above – several other international laws, such as UN Charter on Human Rights; Nuremberg Charter (1945); Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), International Criminal Court (Article 5), and UN Convention on the Rights of Child (1990).
The tortures carried out against Native Muslim and Christian men, women and children – by Zionist regime violates all the above cited international laws. Since its creation by the western powers in 1948 – Zionist occupation forces and its intelligence agencies (Mossad, Shin Bet, Israel Security Agency, etc.) have been carrying out systematic genocidal torture of its native Arab prisoners.
Israel’s Landau Commission condemned Israeli torture of Arab detainees, but approved the Panel Law’s certain provisions against international laws. However, Israel’s High Court of Justice, legitimized such tortures during interogations in 1996. In November 2001, UN Human Rights Commission challenged Israel’s High Court’s decision.
MIFTAH estimates that since 1965 – over 650,000 Native Palestinian (Muslims and Christians) have been detained by Zionist regime – equivalent to one-sixth of total Native Palestinian population under Jewish occupation. Currently, Israeli security forces hold 10-12,000 Palestinian men, women and children detainees under deplorable conditions – “85% of them are subjected to torture and abusive treatment,” according to Israel Human Rights group B\’Tselem
Stephen Lendman’s recent article Torture As Official Israel Policy is worth reading.
