As much as I am against the prospect of putting people in danger unnecessarily, Mr. Assange is not doing anything illegal by publishing these documents. The guilty ones are those who gave this information to him for whatever motive they have. Those people should be found and punished. As a result, I cannot condemn Assange for his actions, shooting the messenger is not appropriate in this case. Many of those who are fighting against him argued for transparency and being ethical with all policies. If people have been living up to their own words, then this would not even have meant a single thing. Honesty and openness should be not only campaign slogans, but how we all live our lives. If we have to hide something we're doing, then perhaps we should not be doing it in the first place, or perhaps you must communicate with those you feel you need to hide from? That goes for both individual and government.
