It's about time! The "war" on drugs has been a total waste of money. Of course, legalization might cause massive unemployment in our criminal court system--judges, lawyers, police officers, prisons, etc... Oh well, they can join the rest of us!The non-violent drug offense "criminals" are over crowding the prisons and the the lawmakers couldn't care any less about the human factor. Greed will keep the war on drugs in businessAmazing how much money and time has been spent on nothing at all. I worked a prison and yes, the majority of the incarcerated were there for drugs; selling, possessing, etc. I wonder if the drug cases outnumber murder cases or child molestation crimes?
And the drug use, sales, etc. , continues while incarcerated. A sad messed up joke on everybody.
There is so much corruption in the prison system and it would not prosper without drug cases. This is one major reason that the State of California is broke; too many non-violent offenders serving time, and it costs a whole lot per day to keep a person incarcerated.
