Isn't it a farce that a few hundred peasants, in sandals and rags, with bombs that probably cost no more than $5 each, can hold off the most powerful nation in the history of the world, with all of its technology and billions of dollars?I am completely confused by these numbers. Last year 619 US troops killed and 5,764 wounded by IED's AND this is a 60% increase of our troops killed in the previous year. A 60% INCREASE!! When 3 BILLION dollors was spent to help combat these bomb!!!. I don't care if these are different types of bombs that are killing our young men than the ones made by Iraqies. Stop and think about the numbers!!! It just doesn't add up! $3,000,000,000 and an INCREASE of 60%!!! Stop getting our men killed and thousands more mamed for life!!!And I feel sorry for the troops who are being asked to do an impossible job. There are no strategic outcomes - the whole thing's nonsense. But there is no threat from the people of Afghanistan either. Just leave them alone and come home. Everyone happy. Why not just go home? 9 years of constant war and mayhem is a pretty good -what the Europeans used to call - punative expedition - for 9/11. I'm sure the Afghans won't let Al Qeuda in there again even if the Taliban DO take over. Theyv'e learned the lesson. It's overkill now - go home. Cheaper and politically better.
