Pook,
Israeli is so very scared right now... their make believe world is about to crumble when the rest of the world recognises a Palestinian state with the 1967 borders, which of course includes East Jerusalem.
You will undoubtedbly argue that Israel will be fine and they make so much in GDP and so on. But, I suspect you have visited ISrael before and you must know of their vulnerabilities in relation to water, food, fuel security (or lack thereof). Or simply their vulnerabilities in that they have no allies and are surrounded by countries and those who reside in those countries hatred for past actions and the theft of Palestine.
No country can stand alone Pook. If Israel doesn't listen to the world who are saying that they need to give back some of what they have stolen from the Palestinians, then they will certainly disappear and soon.
So, I appreciate your optimism but I do not think itis firmly rooted in reality.
In simple terms: What would happen if terrorists attacked and poisoned aquifers, water treatment plants in Israel? How easy will it be for "ISrael" to keep weapons out of Palestinian terrotories now that there is so much "Arab Unrest"? How will Israel sustainably protect their interests (including the new oil fields)? How would it be possible for "ISrael" to survive the test of time? What makes it any more special than the more complex socities of the past that became extinct?
Israel has backed themselves into the wall and they will continue to fight for what they perceive god says is theirs; but it would be unrealistic to believe that they will be able to endure living in such a way for very long. All one has to do is draw historicall parallels. No society based on war lasts for long.
