Israel’s Georgian Connection
Israel’s leading English daily, Ha’aretz has reported that not only Israel has been selling arms to Georgia, but also training its military too – long before its current military conflict with Russia over two Georgian breakaway provinces.In addition to the spy drones (UAVs), Israel has also been supplying Georgia with infantry weapons and electronics for artillery systems, and has helped upgrade Soviet-designed Su-25 ground attack jets assembled in Georgia, according to Koba Liklikadze, an independent military expert based in Tbilisi. Former Israeli generals also serve as advisers to the Georgian military.
Israel insist that it has halted all military supplies to Georgia, which Georgian Cabinet minister Temur Yakobashvili has denied as rumour to fool world opinion.
According to Israeli sources – the Jewish population of Georgia in 1974 was 100,000. Most of them have migrated to the US and Israel. There are estimated 13,000 Jews still call Georgia their motherland.
Some military analysist beleive that the military conflict is brainchild of Israel to force Russia to halt its military and nuclear co-operation with Islamic Republic of Iran.
The other player could be Washington-Moscow tug of war over who should control the Caspian oil – for which the the US allegedly occupied Afghanistan. Asia Times in its July 30 issue published an article by Indian diplomat M. K. Bhadhrakumar on this subject.
Israel has a long history of supplying arms and military training groups which it could use to disablize Muslim nation-state or force other countries to stop having friendly relations or military and economic dealings with Muslim countries. Jewish Lobby’s recent propaganda to boycott China Olympics was also based on China’s cordial relations with Sudan based on China’s need for new oil resources – which Sudan has plenty of it (12% of world’s known oil reserves).
